Recycling in Elkton, OR is not dead
First, let me introduce myself. My name is Alan Mooney, I'm 32 years-old, and was born and raised in a small town in Arkansas; a small town that didn't have recycling. It was a huge culture shock when I moved to Oregon in 2017 and realized recycling was actually a thing, and when it got cancelled in Elkton I knew I had to do something about it.
So, in July of 2019 we launched a Kickstarter to get some basic recycling machines, and much to our surprise it got fully funded and then some! In January we officially launched Defy Industries LLC. We're still learning and working hard to figure out a plan that works. It's not easy at times. It seems like everyday we have a new obstacle to overcome, but the overwhelming support from the community keeps us pushing forward.
We've had a few recycling drop off days, and in total we've collected over 2000lbs of plastic! That is something to be excited about for sure. So, stick with us and subscribe if you want to get updates. We will be adding items to the shop in the coming months!
